The latest update in Grow a Garden introduces cooking and a new NPC named Sam, but how do you even get started? This guide will show you the simple steps to unlock the Cooking Pot and begin feeding Sam to unlock his shop and rewards.

How to Get the Cooking Pot (It’s a “Cooking Kit”)
First, it’s important to know that the item you’re looking for is actually called a “Cooking Kit”. This is what permanently unlocks the ability for you to cook meals at the event’s Cooking Pot.
Unlocking it is very easy. It’s a guaranteed reward for completing all of the Common Achievements. You don’t need any high-level items, just a bit of basic grinding.
Common Achievements Checklist
You must complete all five of these tasks to get the Cooking Kit:
- Shovel 100 Plants
- Harvest 200 Carrots
- Gift 1 Carrot
- Sell 500 Strawberries
- Gift 5 Strawberries
Once you finish all five tasks, you can claim the Cooking Kit from your rewards.
How to Feed NPC Sam & Unlock His Shop
With the Cooking Kit unlocked, you’re ready to start the main part of the event!
Your next step is to begin cooking meals (check out our [All Recipes Guide] if you need help). Take the food you’ve made to the new NPC, Sam. By feeding him, you will “level him up.” The higher his level gets, the more items you will unlock in his exclusive event shop.
