New Update: Corrupted Kitsune, Golden Pets & More?

Some exciting new epdate have surfaced from a data-mining bot in a community Discord. While these are not officially confirmed, they give us a very interesting hint of what might be coming with the Corrupted Event:

  • Corrupted Items: Leaked models for a Corrupt Radar and a Corrupt Pet Shard have been spotted, which strongly supports the theory of a new Corrupted mutation.
  • Corrupted Pets: A “Corrupt Chest” leak showed an image containing what looks like a new dark blue and black Corrupted Kitsune.
  • Golden “Raichu” Pet: Another leak showed a model for a golden-colored Kitsune variant named “Raichu,” suggesting we might get multiple new top-tier pets.
  • New Seeds: An Elder Strawberry Seed and a Sakura Bush Seed were also found in the files.

Developer News: Jandel on the Kitsune Problem

Jandel has directly addressed the community’s frustration with the 0.08% Kitsune drop rate. On the official Discord, he apologized, stating: “We won’t do this again… My bad for this.”

While this doesn’t necessarily mean the current Kitsune’s drop rate will change, it’s great news that the developers are listening and have promised not to repeat such an impossibly rare pet in future events.

Update to the “Admin Abuse Event” Section

It’s also been announced that there will be a confirmed free item drop during this event, though we don’t know what the item will be yet!

The next big update for Grow a Garden is the Corrupted Event! Here’s the super simple breakdown of everything you need to know.

The Corrupted Event is Zen Event: Part 2

This new update isn’t totally from scratch. The Corrupted Event is basically Zen Event: Part 2, taking the old event and adding a new, darker twist.

Player Trading in Grow a Garden

The biggest rumor: Player Trading will very likely be in this update. The devs have been working on this feature for a while, and it looks like it’s finally ready for Grow a Garden!

The Pre-Update Admin Abuse Event

Join Grow a Garden one hour before the main update! Jandel and a secret celebrity guest are hosting a special Admin Abuse event. This is your best chance to get free, ultra-rare mutations on your plants.

New Corrupted Mechanics & Weather

The main theory for the Corrupted Event is that the normal Zen Event will sometimes turn ‘Corrupted,’ which will probably add a new Corrupted Mutation to the game. Dev hints also point to a new Cyclone weather event.

How to Prepare for the Corrupted Event

  • Save your Chi: Don’t spend your Zen Event currency! New items are coming.
  • Use Your Best Plants: Fill your garden with high-tier Grow a Garden plants to get more points.
  • Use Sprinklers Now: Make your best plants huge before the update for maximum value.

New Tranquil Radar Gear is Live

Ahead of the Corrupted Event, a new tool called the Tranquil Radar was secretly added to the Zen Shop. Buy it to automatically collect all your tranquil fruits.

Grow a Garden Zen Update

The Zen Garden Update is here, and it brings some huge new features and a whole new event loop to the game. I’ve gone through all the details to bring you a clear guide on what actually matters.

All New Pets in the Zen Garden Update

The new Zen Egg contains several Japan-themed pets with unique abilities. These are the ones to watch out for:

  • Kitsune (Divine): The undisputed star of the update. With an insane 0.08% drop rate, this nine-tailed fox is the new rarest pet. It visits another player’s garden, duplicates one of their crops, and brings it back to you with the powerful new Chakra mutation.

  • Nihonzaru (The Monkey): This pet introduces a new mechanic. If you place a Hot Spring cosmetic in your garden, the monkey will bathe in it and provide a small boost to the abilities of all your other active pets.

  • Koi: A unique pet purchased directly from the Zen Shop. It comes in many different colors and gives you a small chance to get an egg back after you hatch one, which is great for mass-hatching sessions.

  • Tanchozuru (The Crane): This pet can meditate and has a chance to apply the Tranquil mutation to your nearby plants, giving you another way to get them outside of the hourly event.

All New Crops in the Zen Garden Update

The update introduces a variety of new plants, mostly found in the Zen Seed Pack.

  • Maple Apple (Divine): This is the best and rarest seed from the pack. It grows into a tree that produces multiple valuable apples.

  • Zen Seed Pack: The pack also includes the Hinomai, Zen Rocks, Taro Flower, Serenity, and Monoluma. Be aware that many of these are one-time harvest crops.

  • Shop-Exclusive Crops: As you level up the event tree, you’ll also unlock the ability to purchase the Spiked Mango and Soft Sunshine from the Zen Shop.

How the Zen Event Works

The core of the Zen Garden Update is the new hourly event. Here’s the simple loop:

Grow a Garden Update

  1. The Event Starts: Every hour, on the hour, the “Zen Aura” event begins and lasts for about 10 minutes.
  2. Get “Tranquil” Plants: During the event, blue orbs will fly into your garden and give random plants the new Tranquil mutation. You’ll know which ones are affected because they’ll have little Japanese letters floating off them.
  3. Turn Them In: Harvest these Tranquil plants and take them to the new NPC, Monk Unk, who is standing by a large tree.
  4. Grow the Tree, Unlock the Shop: Giving him the plants will contribute to growing the tree behind him. Each time you complete one of the tree’s seven growth stages, you unlock new, better items in the Zen Shop.

New Feature: Garden Save Slots!

First up, the feature we’ve all been desperately asking for: Garden Save Slots.

Grow a Garden Save Slots

You can now find a mailbox outside your plot that lets you buy a second garden slot (for a hefty price, starting around 100 billion Sheckles). This allows you to save your current, beautifully decorated garden and switch to a fresh, empty plot for grinding events. When you’re done, you can load your old garden back in. No more destroying your hard work!

The Zen Shop & Its Best Rewards

The new shop is where you’ll spend your new event currency, Chi. A cool feature here is the restock button, which lets you pay Sheckles to instantly refresh the shop’s inventory if you don’t see what you want.

The shop contains a ton of new items unlocked through the tree stages, including new seeds, a new pet egg, and unique cosmetics like the Hot Spring and Zen Waterfall.

Getting the Tranquil Mutation: All 3 Methods

Just to recap, this mutation is key to the whole event. Here are the three ways to get it:

  1. The Hourly Zen Event: The main and most reliable method.
  2. The Tanchozuru Pet: Has a chance to apply the mutation passively.
  3. The Pet Shard (Tranquil): A final reward from the Zen Shop. It’s a one-time use item that you can give to any pet, granting it the permanent ability to apply the Tranquil mutation to your plants.
